Carrom at Sams Indoor Sports Centre

Introduction to Carrom Board

Carrom is a popular indoor tabletop game that originated in South Asia and has gained international recognition for its fun, strategic gameplay. Played on a square wooden board, Carrom combines elements of skill, precision, and concentration, making it enjoyable for all age groups.

The game is typically played by 2 or 4 players, who use a striker disc to flick lighter discs—called carrom men—into corner pockets. The objective is to pocket all your assigned pieces before your opponents, with the queen (red disc) serving as a bonus point piece that requires a strategic cover shot.

Carrom is simple to learn but challenging to master, making it ideal for both casual play and competitive matches. It's a great way to build focus, hand-eye coordination, and friendly competition in a relaxed indoor setting.

At Sams Indoor Sports Centre, we invite you to experience the excitement of Carrom and enjoy this timeless game in a welcoming community atmosphere.

How the Game Works:
Carrom is played by 2 or 4 players. The goal is to use a striker to pocket your assigned colored discs (called carrom men) before your opponent does.

Key Rules for Beginners:

  • Each player is assigned either white or black carrom men.
  • Players take turns flicking the striker from their baseline to hit the carrom men.
  • The red piece, called the queen, is the most valuable and must be covered (pocket a carrom man immediately after the queen) to claim it.
  • If a player pockets the wrong piece or commits a foul (e.g., pocketing the striker), a penalty is applied.

Scoring System:

  • The game is usually played to a set number of points (e.g., 25 or 29) or a best of 3 boards.
  • At the end of a board, the winner scores points based on the number of opponent’s pieces left on the board.
  • The queen is worth 3 points if covered; otherwise, it is returned to the board.

Carrom at Sam’s Indoor Sports Centre is a great way to enjoy a casual, skill-based game in a relaxed environment. No prior experience needed — just bring your aim and enjoy the fun!
